And who is Jim Mau?

In my professional career, I have had the unique pleasure of assisting in taking a small diagnostic development and manufacturing company from start up to successful market competitor.  As a company principal, I helped take that company from one research bench in an old Quonset hut to a facility consisting of four custom build-out suites. Our product line consisted of immunoassays for the determination of medically important pathogens though our technologies were also used to establish a sister company of products for food, water and environmental quality testing. My interests in these companies were sold in 1996/98 respectively and I have been active as an industry consultant for several years.

In my consulting to industry, I provided technical information and analysis, assisted with product research, development and testing to regulatory guidelines, developed and implemented manufacturing and quality control processes and writing all accompanying Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs per cGMPs).  I have supervised employee training for production, quality control and safety as well as marketing and sales.  I have also acted as a regulatory interface between client and regulatory agency on regulatory matters (FDA, EPA, USDA).

I have worked in the field, in the research and clinical laboratory, in the manufacturing facility and in the market place.  My professional experiences cover aspects ranging from materials research & product development, vendor selection and qualification, inventory and material control, in house manufacturing, product evaluation and quality control, maquiladora contract manufacturing and the in vitro culture of pathogenic strains. This would also include employee training and safety (including the development of all documentation associated with the above areas), regulatory affairs [including inspections (FDA, EPA, USDA)] and marketing (OEM, CSR, trade shows, & sales) from start up through scale up of both product line and facility. In addition, I have attended numerous professional seminars related to management and regulatory affairs, presented at trade shows and meetings, lobbied Congress on legislation regarding medical devices and taken many personal and professional development courses which I continue to do today.

In volunteer service to my community, I have assisted two communities in the establishment, development and management of their community emergency response programs, resided as a member of a local Emergency Preparedness Board and assisted a major metropolitan Emergency Management Services Department in the development of their response program to bioterrorism. I have also been a member of local and national volunteer emergency service groups. In years prior, I worked in hospital laboratories and Pathology and had the pleasure of leading several biological expeditions as remote field manager for logistics and operations including documenting the expeditions on film.

I also spent two years as a producer for a national syndicator of top rated talk show hosts.

But best of all, in my earlier years, I had the pleasure of leading several biological expeditions as remote field manager for logistics and operations. My job was to get scientist, crew and equipment to the site of exploration, establish and maintain base camp, ensure all meals were prepared by crew and that all medical and transportation needs were met and then get everyone back alive. In this capacity, I also had the opportunity of documenting the projects on film both 35 mm still and Super 8 mm (hey, it was good at the time...) for inclusion in subsequent publications and media. To this day, these are some my best experiences of life and the passion that drives me to produce today.

I look forward to discussing how I may assist you in accomplishing your goals.

Thank you,

James L. Mau
